Welcome to Allegheny City Smokehouse
Allegheny City Smokehouse is an organic movement in more ways than one. From the product itself, to the people that have helped establish it. Located on the Northside of the city of Pittsburgh, this smokehouse has been involved with this city for over 30 years. Pittsburgh is a region of passions whether it be for our local sports teams or for our food. This passion shines through in the smoked meats that we produce and manner in which we interact with the people around us in our daily lives. Eating is best done with family or friends. The concept of Allegheny City Smokhouse is not original, it is a tried and true product purely crafted. Kelly Patton and Jared Lordon are pleased to welcome you to their site.
Kelly Patton
Born and raised in Acme, PA Kelly worked in restaurants in the West PA region for a few years. Eventually making his way down south he was Executive Chef at The Grove Park Inn. This is where he and Jared first crossed paths. After The Grove Park, Kelly made his way out west, working at the Inn at Lost Creek in Telluride Colorado. There he, along with his wife Dana, was invited to be a guest Chef at The James Beard House in NYC. Once again Jared and Kelly's paths would cross as Kelly invited him to be part of his team to execute the dinner. Two years later Kelly came back to the Pittsburgh region. He and Jared would re-unite again to form Allegheny City Smokehouse.
Jared Lordon
Jared is a native of the Pittsburgh region, being born and raised in Pittsburgh. After culinary school, Jared took an internship at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville NC. One of the first people he worked with was Kelly. A strong bond was formed between the two due to their work ethic and integrity. The paths would split when Jared returned to Pittsburgh and Kelly and his Wife Dana headed out west. Returning to Pittsburgh Jared decided that it would be in his best interest to try and diversify his skills. He was part of the opening crew of NOLA on the square, and with his experience with wood fired ovens taught the chefs there how to cook with a live fire. Never losing touch with the other, Kelly and Jared traveled to NYC to cook at the prestigious James Beard House. A few years later Jared would find himself with a unique opportunity. He called Kelly and said "I have an idea…", and that's how Allegheny City Smokehouse started.
